The History of the Flag of the Saarland

The flag of the Saarland was first introduced in 1957 with the accession to the Federal Republic of Germany. During the French occupation, Saarland possessed other flags, changing from a blue-white flag to a blue-red flag and Scandinavian cross, the colors and symbols visible on the current flag.
